Latex puppet

This was my first attempt at moulding and casting long before I knew what model-making was. I was part of the 2018 Gold Aim Summer School at AUB, where for a week we learned how to create a latex puppet. First you sculpt your puppet in a water activated clay - ceramic clay in this instance, then you cast the clay by pouring plaster Paris over the sculpt. Then, after the plaster is dry, you pick out the clay and are left with the mould, which can then be filled with layers of liquid latex. The puppet was then painted using Natalie acrylics. I was very happy with the final product and the movement of it worked really well - the brows could be moved as could the mouth, and when the mouth is opened fully the corners of the puppet curl up adding for some nice secondary movement and extra expression.
